Meet Ms. Walker

Hello Short Pump Stingers! My name is Rebecca Walker and I am the school counselor.  I am excited for another year at Short Pump Elementary. I wanted to tell you a little about myself.

I am a Richmond native and attended Henrico County Schools. I went to Roanoke College and received my Bachelors Degree in Sociology and a license to teach Pre-K – 6th grade. Right after I graduated from Roanoke, I went to Virginia Commonwealth University for my graduate degree and received my Masters in School Counseling.

I will be at the Short Pump Open House.  Please come by and say hello!  During our first week back, I plan to stop by each classroom to say hello and welcome you all back to school.  Classroom guidance lessons will also begin in September, so you will be seeing a lot of me! I am looking forward to working with your children and each of you and hope you will call on me at any time I may be of assistance to you.

Sometimes people wonder what it is a counselor really does.  Well, the answer is A LOT!  However, my number one job is to make sure that you have a safe, fun, and positive place to learn and grow each day.  You will see me in the hallways, on the car loop, in your classroom, in the cafeteria, pretty much EVERYWHERE throughout the day.  If you need me, you can always contact me via this blog or by filling out one of the slips on my door.

You may contact me by email or phone (804) 360-0812 should you have any questions or concerns!
